Test Preparation

SAT

  • SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test): This test is one of the standard college admissions tests in the USA the other one is ACT. Students appear in this test seeking admission at undergraduate level in the USA. The SAT test evaluation comprises of written, verbal and mathematical skills.
  • There are two types of SAT Available
    i) SAT General Test
    ii) SAT Subject Test – It is designed to measure a secondary school student’s proficiency in a particular subject.

ACT

  • American College Testing (ACT): This is one of the another standard test apart from SAT for high school achievement and college admission in the US. International students looking to attend US undergraduate schools need to take either the ACT or the SAT. ACT evaluations is based on English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, Writing sections. ACT can be taken 12 times subject to time and date limitations.

GRE

  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE): This is the most commonly given admission test for graduate and business schools in the US. GRE is being governed by a non-profit organization ETS (Educational Testing Service) and It is used to evaluate individual’s critical thinking, analytical writing, quantitative reasoning and verbal reasoning abilities.
  • Graduates applying or looking for business schools can take GRE once in every 21 days for up to five times subject to any continuous 12-month period.

GMAT

  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT): This is an widely appeared test for admissions to business programs offered by some top business schools worldwide. It is Governed by Graduate Management Admission Council, GMAT and it is an computer adaptive test that evaluates your analytical, writing, verbal, quantitative and reading skills.
  • Aspiring students looking to apply for management programs such as MBA can appear for GMAT up to 5 times in any 12-month period. Subject to applying not more than once in any 16-day period.

English Proficiency

IELTS:

  • The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): This is the most widely appeared test which measures the language proficiency of individuals who want to study or work in countries where English is used as a language of communication.
  • IELTS exam is conducted worldwide by British Council, UK and IDP, Australia. This test is available in two formats academic and general.
  • Academic IELTS :

  • One can appear for IELTS test as many times as required. It is conducted 4 to 5 times every month & the test score is valid for 2 years.

TOEFL IBT:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is also a widely appeared test for English aptitude at any level for foreign universities. It is governed by a non-profit organization called ETS (Educational Testing Service), TOEFL measures the ability of any non residents to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings. The test is based on iBT, which stands for Internet Based Test and is the most general form of TOEFL conducted worldwide.
  • Any student who wish to apply for higher education programs overseas, scholarship, certification or workers applying for visa can take TOEFL test multiple times subject to once in a 12-day period.

PTE:

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) is an English language test for non-resident english speakers who want to study abroad. It measures reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. PTE is an accepted and approved test by the Australian Government for visa applications and also accepted by thousands of institutions in the UK, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland.
  • There are two types of PTE available –
  • PTE Academic is a computer-based English language test for a non-resident english speakers who want to study abroad.
  • PTE General used to measure the English language proficiency and it comprises of a written paper followed by an interview.
  • Students may appear for PTE academic multiple times. Provided they must obtain the score of their previous test before applying for the next one.
